Australian Unity's head company, Australian Unity Limited, is a mutual. Australian Unity customers are associated with the product or service that they buy. Eligible Australian Unity customers can become Members, or owners, of our head company, Australian Unity Limited. Our board determines the basis upon which Australian Unity customers can become Members of Australian Unity Limited.
Consistent with the health insurance industry, we refer to our health insurance customers as 'members' and this will not change. Eligible health insurance members who hold a health insurance policy (other than overseas visitors' cover) with Australian Unity will remain a health insurance member but additionally will be an Australian Unity Member and eligible for the benefits that brings.
As a Member of Australian Unity, you will be able to access benefits that are uniquely available to Australian Unity Members. Initially this will focus on ways of understanding, measuring and improving your own personal wellbeing, drawing on Australian Unity's longstanding partnership with Deakin University. In the future, there will be further benefits added exclusively for Members, which will be in addition to the existing benefits of being a customer of Australian Unity.
All customers who hold an eligible product or service are eligible for Australian Unity Membership. Customers who hold an eligible product or service for a continuous period of two years will automatically become eligible for Australian Unity Guardian Membership. Australian Unity Guardian Members have the additional benefit of being able to have a say in how the company is run by voting at our AGMs.

Real Wellbeing is more than just your physical health. It’s your standard of living and feeling safe in your home. It’s your personal relationships and being connected to your community. It’s about what you want to achieve in life, while having the security to get out and do what makes you happy. Put simply, Real Wellbeing is your overall quality of life and how satisfied you are with your life as a whole.
The seven domains are: standard of living, health, achieving in life, personal relationships, personal safety, community connectedness and future security.
The Australian Unity Personal Wellbeing Index offers a quick and simple test for those wanting to measure their wellbeing and see if it is in the normal range for Australians. The Advanced Wellbeing Assessment is a comprehensive survey developed in partnership with Deakin University. It asks a series of questions relating to each of the seven domains of wellbeing. After completing the assessment, you will receive a free wellbeing report, with a detailed breakdown of your wellbeing score, plus advice on help you can improve your wellbeing.
You can access the advanced wellbeing assessment in a number of ways:
Answers to the Personal Wellbeing Index will be aggregated with other responses on an anonymous basis so that we can provide you and other Members with more relevant comparisons and insights. Answers to the Advanced Wellbeing Assessment may be used for marketing purposes to provide targeted advice and suggestions of relevant services to help improve your wellbeing. The answers you provide will be used to generate a personalised wellbeing report and will not be used in any way to influence the price you pay for any products or services provided by Australian Unity.
Your personal details enable us to give a more accurate assessment of your wellbeing and benchmark your score against 20 years of data that has been collected while preparing the Australian Unity Personal Wellbeing Index. You do not have to provide this information, however our ability to reliably benchmark against this data is impacted if you do not answer all the demographic questions in the survey, or if you are under 18.
Your score has been benchmarked against 20 years of data that has been collected while preparing the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index.
We have been using the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index to measure the wellbeing of Australians for more than 20 years. The measures used to create questions for the Advanced Wellbeing Assessment have been developed by Deakin University following an in-depth review of existing research literature and measurement tools.
The score you receive is a general indication only and is not a substitute for a professional advice. If you have concerns about your wellbeing in any of the domains, we recommend that you seek appropriate professional advice.
To best assess meaningful changes to your wellbeing over time, we recommend you take the assessment every six months.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer this at the present time, although we hope to include this functionality sometime soon.

The app activities have been designed to work together to improve your wellbeing, however we understand that not everyone has the time or ability to complete every activity. You can pause any activity from the setting screen or adjust the target and frequency to make it easier or less time consuming to fit in with your other commitments.
Default targets and frequency have been set for each activity, but we understand that not everyone is the same, so you can adjust or pause any activity, from the settings screen. You can also set notifications specific to that activity as a reminder.
Your activity results and achievements will be used only for improving your experience within the app. Your answers will be aggregated with other Member activity on an anonymous basis so that we can provide you and other members with an optimal experience. Your answers will not be linked with your Australian Unity Member or customer record.
