Preparing for parenthood is unlike anything you’ve ever done before.

As you await the arrival of your baby, you’ll experience many emotions: elation, joy, anticipation—not to mention stress, anxiety and fear. These emotions are all part of the journey when it comes to this momentous event: a transition that will change your life forever.

Along with all the excitement of impending parenthood come the inevitable questions: Am I ready to become a parent? Is what I’m experiencing normal? What if I do something wrong?

While family and friends may be on hand to offer advice and insights during this time, their support is not the same as that of an experienced professional. That’s where baby+me can help.

What is baby+me?

The baby+me program provides practical support when you need it most: during pregnancy right through to your baby’s first birthday.

It includes phone and email contact with a midwife who will provide guidance and assistance, plus an informative website relating to pregnancy and parenting.

If you have any questions or concerns, whether about how to prepare for the birth or how to care best for yourself and your infant, an expert will be there to offer practical assistance and support.

How does baby+me work?

You can email or call your baby+me midwife as often as you like for the duration of the program. Your midwife will also check in with you at particular stages of your pregnancy and throughout the first 12 months of your baby’s life:

  • Early in your pregnancy you can discuss things like the physical and emotional changes you’re experiencing, plus get expert tips for staying healthy.
  • At the 36-week milestone, it’s time to prepare for the birth of your baby and ask any questions you may have about bringing your newborn home.
  • Once your baby is home, your midwife will continue to keep in touch to see how you’re adjusting to parenthood.
  • And throughout the first year, you’ll be just a phone call or email away from expert advice about your baby’s care and development and your own post-pregnancy health.

In addition to the invaluable assistance your midwife will provide, you’ll also receive a welcome pack shortly after you enrol filled with information to help you through your pregnancy. To celebrate the arrival of your baby you will also receive a congratulatory gift pack from us.

Additional support for high-risk pregnancy

If you are diagnosed with a condition or experience an exacerbation of symptoms in relation to your pregnancy or birth (e.g. gestational diabetes), you’ll receive additional support, education and guidance from an accredited allied health clinician to help manage your care. This support will be provided in addition to the advice and support you receive from your baby+me midwife.
