Terms and Conditions: Get a Quote to Enter $1,000 Gift Card Draw
(4 December 2023 – 31 January 2024)

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes forms part of these terms and conditions of entry. By entering the "Enter the draw to win a $1000 Gift Card" competition (competition), you acknowledge that you have read these terms and conditions and that you agree to be bound by them.
  2. The promoter is Australian Unity Health Limited ABN 13 078 722 568, 271 Spring Street, Melbourne, VIC, 3000 (Promoter).
  3. The competition runs from 12.01am (AEDT) 4 December 2023 to 11:59pm (AEDT) 31 January 2024. The Promoter reserves the right to extend the competition end date at any time. No late entries will be accepted. Incomplete or incoherent entries will be invalid.
  4. The prize consists of One x $1,000 Visa Gift Card.
  5. To be eligible to enter the competition you must:
    1. be 18 years or older;
    2. reside in any Australian State or Territory
  6. To be entered into the random prize draw the entrant must complete an Australian Unity health insurance quote (for hospital cover, or extras cover, or a combination hospital and extras cover) via the Australian Unity call centre, the Australian Unity website, or Australian Unity Partnerships (phone and online portals) including their email address and phone number.
  7. A limit of one entry to the competition per person applies to those who obtain quote only. If an entrant proceeds to purchase  and commence an Australian Unity health insurance product prior to 11:59pm (AEDT) 31 January 2024 they will have ten entries to the competition. There is no fee to enter.
  8. For the avoidance of doubt, this promotion is not available:
    1. through brokers, intermediaries or comparators; or
    2. to employees, directors or officers of the Promoter, and any of its related bodies corporate, and any companies or agencies associated with this competition, or their immediate families.
  9. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and proof of residency) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions or who tampers with the entry process.  Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of these rights.
  10. The winner will be chosen at random by manual draw. The first valid entry drawn will win the prize described above. The random prize draw will be held on 7th February 2024 at 10:30am (AEDT) at 271 Spring Street, Melbourne, VIC, 3000 and the winner notified by phone and email by 9th February 2024. The winner will be published on the Australian Unity website at australianunity.com.au/competitionwinners by 9th February 2024 .
  11. If the prize is not claimed by 29th February 2024 a second chance random draw will take place on this date and the prize-winner will be notified by phone and email by 7th March 2024, and the new winner will be published on the Australian Unity website at australianunity.com.au/competitionwinners on 7th March 2024.
  12. The prize is not transferable or refundable. No part of the prize is exchangeable or redeemable for cash or any other prize. If any aspect of a prize cannot be delivered for any reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for any other similar item (or items) of equal or greater value subject to State laws.
  13. The results of the draw and Promoter’s decisions in relation to all aspects of this promotion are final and binding on all entrants.
  14. Subject to regulatory approval, the Promoter reserves the right to amend the competition and its terms and conditions at any time and for any reason, and will notify entrants of any such amendments as soon as reasonably practicable on the competition page at australianunity.com.au/tcs.  It is the entrant's responsibility to regularly check the competition page for any amendments.
  15. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the Promoter's liability in relation to the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Non-Excludable Guarantees). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury, or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition including:
    1. any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
    2. any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
    3. any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
    4. any variation in prize value to that stated in these terms and conditions;
    5. any tax liability incurred by the winner or entrant; or
    6. use of the prize.
  16. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) which is suffered or sustained by any entrant/winner as a result of participating in this promotion, or accepting any prize.
  17. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from winning the prize. Independent financial advice should be sought.
  18. All entries will be the property of the Promoter. The information entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this competition. The Promoter may disclose entrants’ personal information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this Promotion or communicating with entrants. The Promoter is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. The Promoter’s privacy policy is available on the Promoter’s website at australianunity.com.au/privacy-policy. Entrants can request access to the personal information the Promoter holds about them by contacting the Promoter at the address set out above.
  19. The winner of the promotion consents to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media, marketing or advertising activities for an unlimited period without remuneration.
  20. If for any reason whatsoever beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, this promotion is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, unless to do so would be prohibited by law, to
    1. disqualify any entrant; and/or
    2. subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to cancel, suspend, modify, terminate or cancel the promotion.
  21. The laws of Victoria apply to this promotion.  Entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

Terms and Conditions: Get 6 (six) weeks free when you join hospital and extras (28 August – 30 November 2023 Offer extended)

  1. This offer only applies:
    1. to people who purchase Australian Unity hospital and extras cover (either a combined product or a hospital product and an extras product);
      1. through either:
        1. the Australian Unity call centre;
        2. the Australian Unity website;
        3. Australian Unity Partnerships (phone and online portals); or
        4. an aggregator or comparator call centre/website;
      2. between 28 August – 3 November 2023 where the policies purchased have a commencement date between 28 August – 30 November 2023; and
      3. are new members on new memberships (see further condition 3 below); or
    2.  to members who purchase Australian Unity Hospital & extras cover (either a combined product or a hospital product and an extras product) through iSelect’s or Health Insurance Comparison (HIC)’s or It’s My Health’s or HealthDeal’s referral program; and
      1. have a referral date (i.e.: the date the sale was processed by iSelect/ HIC /It’s My Health/ HealthDeal) no later than 30 November 2023 and a start date no later than 15 December 2023;
      2. are new members on new memberships (see further condition 3 below).
  2. After complying with paragraph 1 above, and subject to paragraph 3 and 5 below, the policy holder may receive 6 (six) weeks free on their hospital and extras cover (either a combined product or a hospital product and an extras product). Limit of one 6 weeks free offer per membership.
  3. Offer only available to new members on new memberships, who have not previously held Australian Unity health insurance within 90 days of joining.
  4. This promotion is not available:
    1. to members who take out hospital only cover, extras only cover, Overseas Visitors Cover or Overseas Visitors Cover plus extras cover;
    2. to Australian Unity staff (this includes Greengate21 staff).
  5. The 6 weeks free will be applied to the membership after the policy holder has held hospital and extras cover for a minimum period of 60 continuous days and the policy is paid up to date:
    1. The 6 weeks free will not be applied on any policies that are in arrears or that are suspended for a period during the first 60 days of membership.
    2. The 6 weeks free offer is applied to your policy by advancing the date you are paid up to, i.e. moving it forward 6 weeks. The 6 weeks free will be applied to policies within 30 days after completing 60 continuous days of paid membership to allow for data and processing time.
  6. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other retail offer or promotion being run by Australian Unity at the same time, except where those retail offers or promotions are clearly expressed or communicated by Australian Unity to constitute or form part of a single offer.
    1. This offer is available in conjunction with the following offer: Two month and optical (six month) waiting period waiver for new members joining hospital and extras covers (combo or mix ‘n’ match), between 28 August – 30 November 2023.
  7. Those who join via a partnership relationship are eligible for the partnership discount and the weeks free offer.
  8. Dependants who come off their parent’s policy and take out hospital & extras cover or a combination cover within 90 days will not be eligible for this offer. However, they will be eligible for a separate offer if they join within 30 days, refer to the details here.
  9. This offer can be withdrawn at any time by Australian Unity. Australian Unity reserves the right to change these offer conditions at any time without notice, and to apply the updated offer conditions to any policies purchased after the time when the conditions were updated.
  10. Australian Unity may request further information from any purchaser at its discretion in order to determine whether the purchaser is eligible for this promotion.

Terms and Conditions: No 2 month or optical waiting periods on extras (28 August – 30 November 2023 Offer extended).

  1. This promotion is only available:
    1. to members who purchase Australian Unity Hospital & extras cover (either a combined product or a hospital product and an extras product);
      1. through either:
        1. the Australian Unity call centre/website; or
        2. an aggregator or comparator call centre/website;
      2. between 28 August – 30 November 2023, where the policies purchased have a commencement date between 28 August – 30 November 2023; and
      3. who are new members on new memberships who have not previously held Australian Unity health insurance within 6 months of joining (see further condition 2 below)

  3.  After satisfying condition 1 and 2 above, Australian Unity will waive 6-month optical extras waiting periods and all 2-month extras waiting periods required to be served under extras covers which have been purchased as part of this promotion. Unless specified by Australian Unity, all other waiting periods for all products still apply.
  4. If you are transferring from another fund, we’ll take into consideration the amount you’ve claimed in 2023 under your previous cover when we calculate your yearly limit for equivalent services under your new cover.
  5. This promotion can be withdrawn at any time by Australian Unity. Australian Unity reserves the right to change these offer conditions at any time without notice, and to apply the updated offer conditions to any policies purchased after the time when the conditions were updated.
