Australian Unity announces resignation of Dr Joe Fernandes, Executive General Manager – Funds Management & Group CIO

Australian Unity today announced that Dr Joe Fernandes will step down from his role as Executive General Manager – Funds Management &   
Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective 28 February 2026. 

Dr Fernandes has played a pivotal role in leading and transforming Australian Unity’s funds management businesses over the past five years. His leadership has strengthened the Group’s investment, commercial and strategic disciplines across its funds management activities, delivering significant value for investors and a more focused portfolio of investment offers aligned to the Group’s strategic vision.  
 
Adam Vise, Acting Chief Executive Officer- Wealth & Capital Markets said “Dr Fernandes’ tenure has been characterised by an unwavering focus on delivering quality and value for investors and members. On behalf of the Group, I thank Joe for his contribution and wish him every success in his future endeavours.” 

Dr. Fernandes said, “it has been a privilege to lead Australian Unity’s funds management activities over the past five years. I am proud of our achievements, strengthening our investment disciplines, simplifying our commercial portfolio, and partnering with aligned organisations to amplify our social impact. I leave confident in the Group’s future opportunity and potential.” 

Australian Unity has commenced a recruitment process for Dr Fernandes’ replacement.
