This innovative Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model was the first of its kind in Australia, allowing the hospital to be built through private capital. It offers specialized care in rehabilitation, elective surgery, endoscopy, and outpatient services. The facility features 234 hospital beds, including 156 inpatient beds for long-stay acute rehabilitation, a 28-bed surgical unit, and a 50-day patient surgical unit. Equipped with seven operating theatres, three procedure rooms, medical imaging, pathology, and retail suites, STARS provides high-quality care in a welcoming environment.

STARS is a leader in sustainable design - the first hospital in Australia with a 5 Star Green Star Performance rating awarded by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) for Australian excellence in building operations. Features include high-performing thermally glazed windows, advanced building management systems, efficient LED lighting, and water-saving fixtures.
The facility’s landscape design, including the celebrated Spanish Steps, has also won multiple awards for its lush, inviting spaces, including the 2022 Property Council of Australia’s Best Public Building (National) and the Queensland State Development of the Year.
