Herston Quarter - Proposed Development Sceme

August 2017

The Queensland Government has released the Herston Quarter Priority Development Area Proposed Development Scheme.

Public notification of the Proposed Development Scheme will be conducted from 7 August to 18 September 2017.

Truck movements to increase

6 July 2017

Truck movements and construction activity will increase on the Herston Quarter site from now as the internal strip out of the former Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) commences. This work is in preparation for the demolition of the former RCH in coming weeks.

For this stage of works, truck movements will be limited to Herston Road and will be managed by traffic control operators as required.

Temporary Road Closure – Back Road

16 June 2017

There’ll be temporary disruption to traffic on Back Road on the Herston site between 6:30am and 8:30am, Saturday 17 June 2017, to allow for important cabling activity.

Access will be maintained for all emergency vehicles.

No disruption to power or services is anticipated.

Exploratory trenching begins

25 May 2017

Exploratory works have started around the former Children’s Hospital this week. This work includes some jack hammering and digging to determine the type of rock and foundations on the site and isolate some underground cabling.

This work will generate some noise on site for the next three weeks.

These works are critical to isolate some services prior to demolition works and determine the machinery and approach required for excavation of the site later this year.

Activity update at Herston Quarter

16 May 2017

The disconnection of services in the old Royal Children’s Hospital on the Herston Quarter site is now underway as part of the first stage of the Herston Quarter redevelopment.

These works will take place over the coming months and will allow for the diversion of important cabling and future demolition of the building.

Every effort is being made to ensure minimal disruption to services on the site and staff will be made aware of when short term outages to data or telephones are anticipated.

Site preparation works begin at Herston Quarter

Safety hoarding is being installed on the Herston Quarter site as part of the first site preparation works to get underway.

As a result of the hoarding, changes to pedestrian and vehicle access are now in place. Click below to see the alternate routes that are now available.
