Tree and Vegetation Removal

A number of large trees and vegetation on Back Road and Research Road will be removed or trimmed as part of the works to divert services from the Herston Quarter

Most of the vegetation on the northern side of Back Road between Lady Ramsay Child Care and Hospital Alcohol and Drug Service (HADS) will be removed.

This work is to allow for the safe diversion of existing site services, and to accommodate future redevelopment on the site.

Tree removal works will be supervised by a professional arborist and a qualified wildlife expert will be in attendance to inspect trees for wildlife prior to and during removal.

All tree removal will be in accordance with relevant approvals and plans. These works will take several weeks to complete.

Road access changes to RBWH staff car park near the Garrick Terrace and Butterfield Street roundabout (adjacent to Ronald McDonald House)

From Monday 13 January 2020, the entry and exit point via Research Road to the staff car park adjacent to Ronald McDonald House will be closed and vehicles will be required to enter and exit from Garrick Terrace.

The car park modification is required to allow for the diversion of services, prior to the development of a new 1150 space car park as part of the redevelopment of Herston Quarter. These changes will remain in place until completion of the new multi-storey car park in early 2022.

During this time, there will be changed traffic conditions:

  • No right turn from Garrick Terrace (westbound) when entering the car park
  • No left turn onto Garrick Terrace when exiting the car park.

The car park will still be operational during this time and there will be no changes to pedestrian access.

These works are anticipated to take three to four weeks to complete and may generate some noise and require temporary changes to traffic. Please follow the direction of signage and traffic controllers.
