Australian Unity Trustees has grown its Canberra presence with the acquisition of local tax practice Clarkson Williams Partners Pty Ltd (CW Partners).
With an expanding market in the nation’s capital, this will allow Australian Unity Trustees to increase its service offering and customer base.
CW Partners currently provides services to around 1,900 business and private clients, including significant operators in the disability and medical sectors.
Partner Michael Williams says CW Partners is looking forward to working under the Australian Unity umbrella.
“We’re very excited to be joining Australian Unity Trustees,” Mr Williams says. “Our business is based upon building strong client relationships, so it makes sense to be joining an organisation that has a wellbeing focus.
“We have been providing tax and business advice services to a diverse range of clients for many years. We will continue to provide these services to our existing clients and look forward to being able to offer our services to existing Australian Unity clients.”
Alex Madsen, Executive General Manager, Trustees says the Canberra tax practice is an important addition to Australian Unity’s portfolio and is a financially profitable and sustainable business with a strong reputation in the local market.
“We’re delighted to be expanding our footprint in Canberra, where we are already experiencing significant growth in the number of clients we service,” Ms Madsen says.
“The acquisition enables our clients to benefit from an expanded offering that will enhance our current trustee services, including the shared knowledge of both businesses, incorporating tax with estate planning, estate management, trusts and financial administration.”
Esther Kerr-Smith, CEO of Australian Unity Wealth & Capital Markets, says the acquisition will also benefit CW Partners’ client base, who will not only continue to receive high quality tax advice but can also access a broader range of health, wealth and care products and services that meet their wellbeing needs.
“Australian Unity’s purpose is to enable the financial wellbeing of all Australians and building our on-the-ground presence in Canberra will mean clients can build lasting and trusted connections with our growing local team of accountants, lawyers and financial advisers.”
“We have a very experienced and talented team that will strengthen Australian Unity’s tax offering and provide a strong presence for the Australian Unity brand in the Canberra market,” Mr Williams says.
“Aligning with a company of Australian Unity’s size will provide us with the ability to offer clients a greater variety of offerings and services and will provide career opportunities and a succession plan for staff”.
