Rathdowne Place retirement and aged care community invites members of the local Carlton community to attend its Our Way of Being Safe Expo in support of Victorian Health and Safety Week, 19-28 October 2015.
This Rathdowne Place expo aims to raise awareness for health and wellbeing through a variety of engaging educational stalls. A complimentary BBQ lunch will also be available for guests.
Ten stall holders in total will offer health and wellness products, from manual handling safety to physical wellbeing and financial security. There will also be three lectures on health and wellness provided throughout the day as well as a healthy eating cooking demonstration.
Gavin Young, Rathdowne Place General Manager, said the goal of the event is to frame the serious issue of health and safety in a fun way for passers-by of all ages.
"As a community-based organisation, Rathdowne Place, under the Australian Unity health and safety banner of ‘Our Way of Being Safe’ is looking to raise awareness for the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, residents and the wider Carlton community," Mr Young said.
"Australian Unity is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our staff, customers, visitors, contractors and volunteers by making our workplaces as safe as possible.
"The Our Way of Being Safe team plays a key role in carrying out this commitment at Rathdowne Place and we are proud to see that this team is bringing staff, residents, their relatives and the community together to celebrate health and safety and promote the importance of considering health and safety in every aspect of everything we do."
