Geelong Grove residents welcome redeveloped community centre

14 Jul 2015
The extensive redevelopment has transformed the community centre into a modern, multi-functional, wellbeing space for residents to enjoy.

The centre now boasts a contemporary kitchen, revamped hairdressing salon, recreational areas, a library and reading spaces with Wi-Fi connection as well as an open plan living and dining area that features a beautiful gas fireplace and opens out to a full size bowling green.

Australian Unity Chief Operating Officer Cameron Holland said the community centre has been a vibrant hub of activity at the heart of village life since it first opened 29 years ago.

"Geelong Grove has and will continue to welcome a range of resident committees and activities. The redeveloped community centre will provide a comfortable, modern backdrop to such activities that bring like-minded people together well into the future," Mr Holland said.

"We hope the improvements we made to create a contemporary, multi-purpose community centre provide ongoing benefits to our residents’ wellbeing. It is something we can all be proud of".

Australian Unity’s Geelong Grove Retirement Village is centrally located and close to Barwon River and local services, including Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. The village has been a part of the Grovedale community for almost 30 years.
