Australian Unity Retirement Living Regional Manager, Richard Prideaux, said this is an exciting opportunity for the village to be involved in such an iconic event and bring the Melbourne Cup experience to the local community of Vermont.
"This is a unique opportunity for people to see the treasured trophy firsthand and enjoy the experience," Mr Prideaux said.
Residents and guests will be treated to an afternoon celebration from 2:30-5:00 pm with one of Australia’s most popular race callers, Bryan Martin OAM and former Victorian Chief Steward Des Gleeson; and past Melbourne Cup winning horse, Might and Power, taking part in the event.
Those attending will be able to take a photo with the prized cup and get up, close and personal with the 1997 Melbourne Cup champion, Might and Power, at the celebration.
The trophy will be visiting 33 towns and cities across Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia as part of its annual Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour.
Those residing in the area wishing to be part of the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour at the Victoria Grange Retirement Village can phone 1300 160 170 to book their place.
