Australian Unity adds choice for New South Wales Central Coast retirees

24 May 2015
Elderslee Retirement Village, located in Bateau Bay on the New South Wales Central Coast, has been managed by Australian Unity on behalf of the Elderslee Foundation for a number of years.

Australian Unity Retirement Living Chief Executive Officer, Derek McMillan, said the company was delighted to now have a permanent role with the Elderslee community.

“With Australian Unity owning nearby villages Kiah Lodge and Karagi Court, bringing Elderslee into the group will allow us to fully integrate the company’s operations delivered through our Better Together model—an award-winning model of service focused on client choice, flexibility, connection and independence.

“The Central Coast is one of the most popular retirement destinations in New South Wales. Being able to offer people not just one but three retirement living options that allow them to pursue the lifestyle that meets their physical and social needs align strongly with our vision,” Mr McMillan said.

Mr John Graham, Director of the Elderslee Foundation, said the sale of Elderslee Retirement Village was a positive move.

“While we are sad to end our ownership of Elderslee, we plan to continue our relationship with the residents and Australian Unity through the proposed wellbeing centre.

“Proceeds from the sale of the village will provide additional funds for the Elderslee Foundation to pursue the proposed wellbeing centre, which will provide services for local retirement living residents.

“Once complete, the new centre will offer a variety of health services and facilities to the local community, including health care consulting rooms, a respite facility, pool, gymnasium and meeting rooms,” Mr Graham said.

Elderslee Retirement Village offers 96 studio, one, two and three bedroom independent living units, modern facilities and a community centre which serves as the meeting place for relaxing and socialising as well as the focal point of many of the village’s resident and family wellbeing activities.
