What is Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition which can trigger serious health complications. As type 2 diabetes can be largely asymptomatic (without symptoms), it is estimated many people may have type 2 diabetes without realising it. Current figures show for every person diagnosed with diabetes, another person goes undiagnosed and according to Diabetes Australia a total of 1.7 million Australians currently have type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes Action Program
The Diabetes Action Program is a telephone based support and coaching program available to members with type 2 diabetes. The program is run by Accredited Practising Dietitians and aims to increase your confidence and knowledge to gain best management of your diabetes and to help you reduce the risks of long term complications.
The Diabetes Action Program includes useful education and support on many risk factors that can affect diabetes management such as diet, activity, medications, blood glucose management, hypo & hyperglycaemia, sick-day management and many other aspects of diabetes control. Our aim is to help members live well and stay out of hospital.

Please note a 12 month waiting period applies and you must have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes to be eligible. This program is not available to members on Care 'n Repair, Smart Start, Budget Hospital and Overseas Visitors Cover.
