No Gap Dental Services

Here's something to make you smile

Research shows that people between the ages of 20 and 45 typically don't visit the dentist unless they develop a chronic condition, such as a severe toothache. By that time it's often too late - the problem has developed and it will cost money and perhaps involve significant pain to fix. But preventive care can make all the difference. Having regular check ups can enable your dentist to prevent or detect otherwise serious (and costly) conditions before they become advanced.

Under the No Gap Dental Service, Australian Unity members with dental cover are offered the following preventive dental services at no out-of-pocket cost*:

  • Initial examination, scale and clean, X-ray and topical fluoride treatment.
  • All future periodic examinations and associated X-rays.
  • Custom mouthguards - protecting your teeth during contact sports is vital and you can even have one made in your team's colours!

These preventive services are available exclusively from No Gap Dental Service providers, chosen by Australian Unity for their ability to provide quality care and their use of leading edge technology.

Australian Unity is also planning to sign up other practices into the No Gap network to expand our coverage and make this service even more accessible to our members.

*Subject to yearly limits

Frequently Asked Questions

This sounds great, but where’s the catch - surely you can’t get ‘something for nothing’ these days?
A: Yes, that’s right, members are not getting ‘something for nothing’. We are constantly looking for ways to provide increased value to you, our loyal members. No Gap is based upon a belief that the people who will take advantage of No Gap will visit their No Gap Network dentist on a regular (six-monthly) basis, thereby enabling their dentist to prevent or detect otherwise costly conditions before they become too advanced.
But what about the mouthguards, I’ve been charged a fortune for these in the past. How do I know that these "free" mouthguards are any good?
A: Well firstly, our custom made mouthguards are not ‘free’. They are provided at No Gap to members with dental cover, meaning that the health fund pays an additional benefit for them. Again, as the people fitted with the mouthguards use them whilst playing sport, this will reduce the claims burden on the fund as you’ll suffer less injuries requiring dental treatment! Of course, our mouthguards are custom fitted, involving the dentist taking an impression, then pouring a mould to construct a guard that fits snugly to protect the teeth. They are the same quality mouthguards that can cost up to $80 elsewhere.
What about quality of care and technological advances?
A: No Gap Network dentists are very aware of the need to maintain their education in the latest technological advances, ensuring that pain-free, aesthetically agreeable dental techniques are available within a convenient, affordable payment regime.
