The Bryan Kelleher Literary Award - Celebrating Australian Bush Poetry

Australian Unity in association with the Australian Natives' Association and Henry Lawson Memorial & Literary Society invites submissions of original bush poetry to be considered for the inaugural Australian Unity Bryan Kelleher Literary Award.

Bryan Kelleher was a long-standing member of the Australian Natives Association who was passionate about acknowledging and honouring Australian achievements. The Australian Unity Bryan Kelleher Literary Award is our way of celebrating and preserving the substantial contribution Bryan made during his long association with the ANA and the Henry Lawson Society.

	Simply fill in the entry form and send together with your original poem to:

	Entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not have won another competition. Each member may enter a maximum of three poems into the competition.

	All prize winners will be published in the Spring edition of Australian Unity's Lifeplus, the August issue of the Lawsonian and November edition of In Accord. All prizes will be presented at the ANA's 'Celebrating Australian Writers' event on Friday, 12 September 2008.

	What is Bush Poetry?


	An Australian Bush poem is any poem with good rhyme and metre, written about Australia, Australians or the Australian way of life. Some famous bush poets include Henry Lawson, Banjo Patterson and Dorothea Mackellar.
