more, plus private hospital cover without having to pay more to fully cover
pregnancy admissions^. The $250 or $500 excess on hospital admissions is designed
to help keep your regular contributions down.

Smart Start® is a simple low cost solution for when you’re young, active and
single. It gives you the protection of private hospital care for day procedures
and accidents, just in case. Plus you’re covered for all those important extras to
help keep you looking and feeling your best – such as physio, general dental,
optical, chiro and selected natural therapies.
So you can take advantage of
benefits on the things you want, without having to pay extra for the things
you’re never going to need (this year, anyway) – like pregnancy cover.
($100 Excess on overnight hospital admissions when not the result of an
accident. Smart Start® can only be taken as singles cover.)

How are Australian Unity’s excesses applied?
Unlike some health funds, Australian Unity only applies the excess on
your first admission to hospital in a calendar year with singles cover and
up to twice in a calendar year with couples or family cover. If you choose
to take out Smart Start® singles cover, the $100 excess only applies to
overnight hospital admissions that are not as a result of an accident.
