Please call CGU Tele-claims on 1300 306 497 (24hrs, 7 days), when something happens that you believe will
result in a claim being made. The Tele-claims consultant will explain the claims process to you and can
arrange assessment at that stage if necessary.

claims promptly and equitably.
CGU’s philosophy is to look for ways to pay valid claims and not reject them on minor technical grounds or
to create undue delays.
What must you do when you make a claim?
A.
When your car is damaged as a result of an accident, contact CGU Tele-claims on 1300 306 497
(24hrs, 7 days). They can provide you with a choice of repairers ready to start work on your car
as soon as possible. If your car cannot be driven, they can assist in arranging for
your car to be towed.
B.
If you have had an accident in which your car has not been damaged, but somebody else's
car or property has been, contact CGU Tele-claims as soon as you can.
C.
You must advise the nearest police station if your car or any of your property has been lost,
stolen, vandalised or maliciously damaged. Please keep any property that has been
damaged so that CGU can inspect it at a later date.
D.
Please forward any documentation relating to your claim to CGU Insurance within 72 hours of
receiving the document.
E.
Remember to contact CGU if you believe that your accident may result in any prosecution or
inquest being held.
F.
In relation to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), you must provide information, where requested.
It is important that you provide us with:
Your Australian Business Number (ABN), if applicable.
Whether or not you are registered for GST.
The amount of input tax credit you have claimed on the GST applicable on the premium.
If you do not give us all the information we ask for, it may affect the
amount we pay you for your claim.
What must you not do when you make a claim?

It is important that you do not repair or replace any damaged property without CGU's consent.

Do not pay, promise to pay, offer payment, or admit responsibility for a claim.
